Hi there! I'm Jess, the creative force behind Weyward Teas. Nestled in the enchanting Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan, I blend my passion for tea with a deep love for the mythical and magical. My journey began with a tea-tasting dream (yes, a literal dream) that inspired me to create unique, witchy-themed tea blends that not only taste incredible but are also dazzling to look at, all while carrying meaningful intention.
When I'm not crafting new tea blends or curating witchy items for my dream shop, you can find me playing with my two-year old son, working the coffee bar at Keweenaw Coffee Works, or laughing with my friends and family at our local Farmer's Market.
I cherish the connections I've made with fellow vendors and customers this year, and I’m excited to bring even more magic into our community going forward.
The ultimate dream is to open a brick-and-mortar shop—a cozy, welcoming space where tea lovers and curious souls can gather. I often imagine a space filled with the scent of fresh herbs and soft gleams of curated metaphysical and antique items. I intend to establish a place where you can sip on a soothing cup of tea, nibble on our incredible locally baked goods, and maybe lose yourself in a good book or a cozy board game with friends.
In a region that has a reputation of being more conservative, I want to create a haven for like-minded individuals to feel safe, connected, and inspired.
Thanks for stopping by and being a part of this journey with me. I can’t wait to share more magic with you!
The first folio editions (1623) of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" uses the word "weyward" to describe the three witch sisters, which then was later changed to "wyrd" and "weïrd".
The modern spelling, "Wayward", is defined by Merriam-Webster as:
1: following one's own capricious, wanton, or depraved inclinations : UNGOVERNABLE
2: following no clear principle or law : UNPREDICTABLE
3: opposite to what is desired or expected : UNTOWARD
